Does Mould Cause Disease?
Does mould cause disease? I’ve spent the last decade educating students and clinicians at universities and colleges around Australia, that it does. Since the floods that ravaged the East coast of Australia in early 2022, I have spent a lot of time investigating mould related illness. After really looking in to this topic, I have to admit that I was wrong.
This may come as a surprise, but mould is not there to cause disease, it’s there to remedy the problem. I’m not saying people living or working in a water-damaged building don’t get sick, it’s clear that they do, however the mould isn’t to blame. There is a perfectly rational, logical alternative explanation.
